The Grasshopper Treadle Hammer

The primary purpose of the current site is to provide a means by which
persons who wish to may purchase the plans for the Grasshopper Treadle
Hammer. This is a do-it yourself project. Some considerable experience
with fabrication of steel parts is needed to complete this project.

the Grasshopper Treadle Hammer:

Accurate vertical hammer motion

No sliding or rolling parts to achieve the vertical motion--
only pivots.

Accurate striking of the work or tool, regardless of its
height or thickness.

Anvil is free of obstructions in all directions.

34-inch hammer stroke

Adjustable treadle height to accommodate different work heights.

Treadle doesn't fight you -- no return force exerted upward
against the foot.

A "kick-back" at the bottom of the stroke brings the hammer
up for the next stroke.

Treadle and kick-back adjustments are made by means of of
a single crank mounted at the front of the hammer.
